Web Design Process
The web design process starts with an exchange of information between you and the web designer. This can be done in person, by phone or even by email. We find out what type of business you're in, and what goals you have for a website in your business. For example, is it strictly for information about your company, or do you need other services such as e-commerce (shopping cart), or a full-blown content management system? We might ask you to go out on the internet and find websites that you like to help us better understand your vision and ideas.
Once we have this information, we begin development of your initial site structure. It usually starts with just one page called a mock-up, and includes sample graphics, a color scheme and naming of the linked pages you'll need for an effective presentation. This is the most time-consuming part of the process for the web designer. Your mock-up is then put up on the internet or given to you for review and adjustment. The review and adjustment can last one day or several weeks depending on your preferences.
Once you approve the mock-up, we build the rest of the pages and begin to add the contents (graphics and text). It is your obligation to provide as much electronic text and graphic content as possible in a timely manner. Your input into this phase of the project is crucial and will have a large bearing on the outcome of your website. During this phase, new illustrations of our work progress will be put up periodically for your review.
The whole process means time spent back and forth by phone or email between the web designer and you to make sure everything goes along smoothly and meets your expectations.
Once the site is completed, we reserve your domain name(s) and get your hosting set up. We obtain final approval, and the site goes up on the internet.
